People will survive most any stress if they have a sense of coherence: (1) feeling that you know what’s going on (comprehensibility), (2) that you can handle things (manageability), and (3), that it’s worth the effort (meaning and purpose).
A sense of meaning and purpose is the most important factor in surviving stress.
